Through the vision and dedication of its nearly 45,000 members, CEC sets the standard for high quality education for children and youth with exceptionalities. The Council ensures the needs of children and youth with exceptionalities are met in educational legislation, establishes professional standards for the field, and develops initiatives to improve special education practice. Student membership

Provides all the benefits of Professional membership at a special student rate. Student members must be a full-time student at an accredited college or university or a part-time student who is not engaged in full-time employment as a certified professional in the field of education.

Students can get one million dollars in liability insurance during their pre-service training for only $25.
