SOLD OUT. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is one the of the most effective and empirically supported interventions to address these needs. This workshop on "School-based applications of cognitive-behavioral therapy to understand and address internalizing problems" will provide accessible and practical information on implementing basic CBT therapy strategies in a K-12 setting for children who exhibit internalizing problems such as anxiety, selective mutism, phobias, trauma and stressor-related disorders, mood disorders and depression. Expert training, coaching and mentoring for Public/Charter/Private school special education directors or administrators. The purpose of the Academy is to assist new directors in the management of special education programs within their schools, while ensuring that the rights of students with disabilities and their parents are protected. The focus is on the core information that special education directors must know to be successful during their initial months of employment and throughout the school year.
The Academy was SOLD OUT in 2018 but will meet again across the 2019-2020 school year. Five sessions meet for 8-days during the upcoming school year - see brochure for details of session topics and content. Fees include membership in CEC and SEAA, three local conferences and mentoring from experienced directors. Seats and mentors are limited!
