Sandra Gilliam Irby, M.S., M.S.Ed., N.C.E.D.
President Elect/ Vice President, is the Director of Special Education and Student Services for Nelson County Public Schools in Virginia. She is a former director of the National Certification of Educational Diagnosticians (NCED). Ms. Irby is a Nationally Certified Educational Diagnostician and currently holds licensure in Virginia for Administration and Supervision (PreK-12), Special Education - General Curriculum, Special Needs Vocational Education, Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, Specific Learning Disabilities and Psychology. In addition to serving on the CEDS BOD, she is a member of the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) and the Teacher Education Division (TED) of CEC. She serves on the Inter-divisional Caucasus for CEC. She holds membership in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and was the Virginia Mathematics Newcomer of the Year in 2004. Her areas of interest include low incidence disabilities, alternative assessments, testing bias, teacher preparation and accommodations for equal access.
