Nomination Information

The Georgia Council for Exceptional Children is an international community of professionals who are the voice and vision of special and gifted education. CEC’s mission is to improve, through excellence and advocacy, the education and quality of life for children and youth with exceptionalities and to enhance the engagement of their families.

The Georgia CEC Co-Teaching Team of the Year Award recognizes a CEC member (teacher) and a general education teacher who currently provides direct services to students Co-Teaching Team of the Year exemplifies the best in differentiated instructional practices that meet the needs of all students.

 Award Benefits

 The Georgia CEC Co-Teaching Team of the Year Award recipient will:

 

  • Be invited, along with one guest each, to attend the GA IDEAS conference in June 2018

 

  • Be recognized and receive a commemorative, framed certificate at the awards ceremony during the Georgia IDEAS 2018 Conference.

 

  • Be featured in a press release in the recipient’s local newspaper or other media.

 

  • Be profiled on the GA CEC website (www.gacec.org).

 Eligibility Requirements

  • The special education teacher must be a CEC member in good standing.
  • The general education teacher need not be a CEC member.
  • Must hold professional certification in the areas in which he or she provides services.
  • Must engage in work consistent with CEC’s mission statement as described in the first paragraph of the awards packet.

 

Posthumous nominations are not accepted.

 

Award Selection Considerations

 

  • The GA CEC Awards Committee has the authority to give only one Georgia CEC Co-Teaching Team of the Year Award or opt not to grant the award in any given year.

 

 Rules and Instructions for Nomination

 

  • All nominations must be submitted electronically.
  • Nominations may be made by a CEC unit or chapter, individual (CEC member, principal, fellow teacher/colleague, student, parent, self), educational organization (school, parent group, etc.), or community group.
  • Only one nomination will be accepted from each CEC unit.
  • The nomination packet is divided into four sections. To facilitate review, the nomination packet should be organized as follows:
      • Section I:        Nomination Form
      • Section II:       Two letters of recommendation from colleagues, supervisors, or other professionals documenting the nominee’s efforts in meeting the award criteria.

 

 

  • All nomination packets must be submitted electronically.  Letters of recommendation and testimonials must be scanned and sent electronically.  Submit all forms as a packet by email to gacecawards@gmail.com
    • Nomination packets must be received by Friday, April 20, 2018
