What is CAN?

Children and Youth Action Network (CAN)

CEC’s Children and Youth Action Network (CAN) is a national group of volunteers dedicated to helping advance policy affecting students with disabilities and gifts and talents. CAN seeks to (1) effect the necessary governmental changes at the local, state, and federal levels that will make possible the implementation of CEC policies relating to the education of exceptional children; and (2) further vitalize CEC units by providing meaningful vehicles for membership and CEC public visibility.

The role of Nebraska's CAN Coordinator is to provide you with current updates at the federal level through social media and other forms of communication as well as provide you with resources in order to advocate for the students and children you work with on a daily basis.  Check in to the "CAN Alerts" tab for updates and how to make your voice heard to Nebraska's Senators on vital issues affecting special education.  With help from the CEC website's Issues and Legislation page, you can read about current hot topics in Congress and communicate directly to Capitol Hill within a matter of minutes.  Your voice is crucial to your state's progress in special education!  Make it heard!
